Jesus, seriously, give us Your Eyes

In case you didn't know, the phrase "Give me Your Eyes" is the theme for our Summer '09 trips. You've probably heard the song by Brandon Heath with the same title (kind of where we got it from). And before this trip, for the 19 of us, it was just a song; just a slogan. But as we're here on this trip, we've been nudged, pushed, sometimes even tossed out of our comfort zones and without having the "Eyes of Jesus", it would be easy to just see things as they were.

It's been interesting to see our students interacting with the campers. And probably the hardest thing for all of us has been being around people in their 40's and 50's, but acting like they are 4 and 5 years old. We have become so accustomed to using our eyes to assess a situation that we are in, but here we have had to figure out what to do when we CAN'T trust our eyes.

That's why we need the eyes of Jesus. We need to see past the external, see past what might be frightening, or sometimes just a little awkward. Because behind what our eyes are showing us, lies a person that Jesus loves and came to give His life for; just like us.

Pray that we can have the Eyes of Jesus as we are spending time with those that He loves.

Thanks for praying!
