Picture Update!

Just thought we'd give the public what it wants...pictures! Enjoy!

"Here at Camp Echoing Hills, we want to stress how important safety is to us. We need to create a 'safety culture' where we are constantly thinking about how something we're doing might affect those around us." Looks like a couple of us didn't get the safety memo.

Some of us got swept up into the train during the concert on Sunday night. Those that survived (me) decided to take pictures; like this one. I can't tell if the look on their faces is "This is fun," or "What did I get myself into?" Which one do you think it is?

At the Nature Center which I have to teach (which basically means, rattle off random facts about animals, bring out a turtle and a rabbit, and pass around some things to see and touch), we get to expose campers to all the things in nature that God has created and surrounded us with. Here our students are letting the campers check out some sea shells. I think they were imported. I've looked and looked and I haven't seen a beach anywhere. : )

It's a group effort when we transport all the campers' bedding and mattresses up to "Frontier Camp" (another part of the camp) for a night of activity concluding with a night spent out under the starts (unlike us, who got to stay in our cabin and actually get some sleep).

This is one of the 64 campers with Nessa, Mariah T., Savannah, and Mariah C. It seems like each day/activity brings our students and the campers a little bit closer and I wish you were here to see the process. God is melting hearts!

The camp activity for the night was tie-dying handkerchiefs. Our trusty helpers ended the night with smiling faces, tired feet, and multicolored hands. Erin, Micah, and Kyle are hoping that their hands aren't a shade of blue/green/purple/yellow for the rest of their lives. I said the chances aren't too likely.

Us leading worship during our evening service that we got to have outside. We taught them the "Fruit of the Spirit", and even with all those different kinds of fruit, I think the campers' favorite part was the "Ooooo" at the beginning of each verse.

"Raising the Flag" at Camp Echoing Hills to commemorate us being finished with responsibilities for the night. And while sometimes challenging, it's hardly Iwo Jima.

Thanks for praying!

  1. Very cool! I saw some of my former students and was relieved that they look fairly responsible!
